This blog was founded by the Class of 2010 Communication Studies majors at Clemson University as a part of their capstone project to assist the Upstate Homeless Coalition in communication strategies. In studying and approaching the issue of homelessness on a personal level, the students realized that many people are just one thing-gone-wrong away from homelessness. “Just one ______ away” became the common theme that unified the project as the students interviewed friends, family members, formerly homeless people, and currently homeless people about their experiences.
The Upstate Homeless Coalition of South Carolina is a private, non-profit organization. UHCSC is a collaborative organization dedicated to ending homelessness through programming, advocacy, and building safe and affordable housing. UHCSC coordinates the Continuum of Care throughout a 13 county area, helping to find gaps in services for homeless people and develop strategies to close the gaps. We take a holistic approach to help homeless people build new lives.
